The mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) most often develops in pines, particularly ponderosa, lodgepole, scotch and limber pine. Bristlecone and pinyon pines are less affected.
It is best to prevent overcrowding of trees and remove sick, old, or dying trees as they are most commonly infected.
The 2008 Denver Parade of Homes, hosted by Solterra runs from July 26 through Labor Day and is held in Lakewood.
