Founded more than 25 years ago by Mike Austin, Austin Gardens & Landscaping has established itself as one of the region’s award winning landscaping companies. Over the years he has focused primarily on residential landscaping projects as well as water features. He has also won multiple awards. While the ownership has changed, he remains on staff and continues to provide his expertise and experience in all aspects of the business.

Fred Brown, one of the new owners, brings with him more than 30 years of experience in the landscaping business. Originally from Utah, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he started his own landscaping company in 1976 known as American Landscaping. Over the years his company grew to become Alaska’s single largest landscaping company with contracts that included the Department of Defense, every single school district in the Anchorage area, and became exclusive landscapers for at least 4 general contractors in the area. His success is attributed to his keen sense of business. For example, he did not rely on outside vendors as he owned his own soil pits and nursery. Like Mike, his experience is award winning and recognized regionally. Being the largest landscaper in Alaska, he also operated one of the most successful snow removal services during the off season. In 2006 Fred sold American Landscaping at its height and retired to Colorado. In 2008 he came out of retirement and partnered with Josh Hathcock to do what he does best… create a strong presence in the industry.

Every company needs a life of the party. For that, we call on Josh Hathcock, partner and owner. Along with his extensive experience as Project Manager, Foreman, and Director of Snow Removal he brings with him the sort of customer service and professionalism that many hope to achieve in their whole career.
